FLOTECH-HONEY National Workshop Successfully Concluded: A Landmark Event for Beekeeping Technology

We are thrilled to announce the successful conclusion of the FLOTECH-HONEY National Workshop, an event hosted by Intala Lab to explore the transformative role of technology in modern apiculture and honey production. The workshop brought together a diverse group of leading researchers, academics, and industry experts, creating a dynamic platform for knowledge exchange.

Throughout the event, critical topics shaping the future of beekeeping were addressed. Key discussion themes included:

  • Smart Technologies and AI: Innovative approaches such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), Digital Twins, and QR code-based digital traceability for advanced hive and colony management.
  • Environmental Challenges & Remote Sensing: Analysis of the regional impacts of climate change and forest fires on honey production using satellite data like MODIS and NDVI.
  • Sustainability and Biological Control: GIS-assisted monitoring methods for sustainable apiculture and the use of biological control agents like the Samurai Wasp.

We were honored to feature a keynote presentation by the distinguished Prof. Dr. Bedir Tekinerdoğan from Wageningen University & Research, who discussed the revolutionary potential of Digital Twins in smart beekeeping. He was joined by a roster of esteemed speakers, including Gülsüm Çiğdem Çavdaroğlu, Elif Deniz Yelmenoğlu, İpek Ünlüakın, and many others who delivered insightful presentations on the forefront of apicultural science.

Outcomes and Publications:
A key outcome of the workshop is the compilation of the presented scientific research. All proceedings from the FLOTECH-HONEY workshop are now available for review on our “Publications" page, where they are chronologically listed. These publications represent the latest scientific advancements in the field and underscore our commitment to fostering innovation.

We extend our sincere gratitude to all the speakers, moderators, and attendees who made this event a remarkable success. We are confident that the insights and collaborations forged here will contribute to a more sustainable and technologically advanced future for beekeeping.
